Ducklings rescued from North Main Street storm drain Tuesday

duck rescue(Update: Lori Stagnitto from Lambertville Animal Welfare says all seven ducklings and their mama were rescued and are recuperating, and thanks are due especially to Lambertville Animal Control Officer Nate Barson.)

Seven ducklings fell down a storm drain near the Landing Restaurant on North Main Street Tuesday evening after following their mother across the street, according to Greg Gauthier from the Village Toy Shoppe at 19 N. Main St.

Gauthier placed stuffed animals from his store in lieu of traffic cones to protect the drain until firefighters arrived. Rescuers were ultimately able to extricate all seven ducklings.

A great job by our local first responders, and doesn’t it make one feel a little safer when a duckling rescue is the biggest emergency of the day?
