New Hope Borough Council has approved the sale of the former borough hall property at 41 N. Main St. for about $950,000.

Finalization of the deal could take about a month. Prudential Fox & Roach in New Hope landed the buyer, Delaware-based investor Hoi Polloi LLC. The property is zoned for both residential and commercial use, and had been advertised as being a suitable for a restaurant, among other possibilities.

The property on North Main Street was originally offered for sale at $1.5 million two years ago, when borough administrative offices were relocated to the St. Martin of Tours Church on New Street.  The former structure was used as a firehouse for 66 years before serving as New Hope’s borough hall from 1973 until 2010.
