The Friday, August 1 New Hope First Friday Fireworks and Drone Show has been canceled due to anticipated bad weather and potential flash flooding, organizers announced.

The decision was made after monitoring weather reports and river conditions, with safety cited as the primary concern for the crew, community, and attendees. Launching fireworks from a barge was deemed unsafe given the forecast for significant rain and high water levels, organizers said.

“We hate to be the bearers of disappointing news,” organizers stated. “With significant rain in the forecast and potential flash flooding, launching fireworks from a barge becomes unsafe.”

The weather impact marks the second setback for the popular riverside event after an unexpected drone grounding last month due to a government-issued airspace restriction.

Fans of the show are encouraged to mark their calendars for Friday, September 5, when a “massive season finale” is planned.

The September event will include a special Philadelphia Eagles theme to kick off football season. It will feature drones, fireworks, music, and additional surprises.

Further details regarding entertainment, sports-themed vendors, and “bird gang green” food and drink specials for the September finale are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
