Authorities are investigating a weekend fire at a New Hope Borough home as part of a larger probe, according to multiple police sources.
New Hope Borough police and the Bucks County Detectives, who work for the district attorney’s office, are leading the investigation.
Details on the exact nature of the investigation were not immediately confirmed, but sources indicated it was larger than just the fire.
Both police and the district attorney’s office declined to comment Monday.
The Bucks County Fire Marshal’s Office is also investigating the origin of the blaze and was still conducting its probe Monday, spokesperson James O’Malley said.
Crews were dispatched at 9:22 p.m. Saturday to Runnemede Road for a reported shed fire near a home.
According to officials, New Hope Borough Police Department officers arrived to find flames and confirmed a working structure fire.
New Hope Eagle Fire Company Chief Gary Breuer said firefighters found the front of the condo heavily involved in fire, with flames spreading into the second-floor windows. A 20-pound propane cylinder was venting and burning near the front door.
One firefighter was transported to Doylestown Hospital for evaluation of a medical condition.
