A quick interior attack by firefighters knocked down a third-floor house fire Thursday evening in the City of Lambertville.
Crews were dispatched to Buttonwood Street at 7:08 p.m. for reports of smoke and flames showing from a third-floor window.

According to the City of Lambertville Fire Department, firefighters arrived and stretched a hoseline directly to the top floor to launch an aggressive attack on the blaze.
As crews worked upstairs, additional firefighters laid tarps to shield the residents’ personal belongings from damage, the fire department said.
Other firefighters inspected the adjoining residence for potential fire spread, confirming the neighboring property suffered smoke condition only with no fire extension.

Responding crews were able to extinguish the fire shortly after arrival.
Once the fire was brought under control, crews ventilated both homes to clear remaining smoke before all units cleared the scene.

The origin and cause of the blaze are being investigated by the fire marshal’s office and City of Lambertville Police Department.
The City of Lambertville Fire Department was assisted on scene by the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad, Delaware Township Fire Company, New Hope Eagle Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, Union Fire Company and Rescue Squad, and the Ewing Township Fire Department.
