Sallie Anne Ziff, 81, of New Hope, was killed in a car crash in Delaware on Wednesday, Delaware State Police confirmed Friday.

The incident occurred at approximately 8:05 p.m., when the 2018 Toyota Corolla in which Ziff was a rear seat passenger was traveling northbound on Roxana Road (SR 17) north of Powell Farm Road, and stopped in the travel lane with the left turn signal activated, waiting to turn left into a commercial business entrance. A 2013 GMC Acadia traveling southbound on SR 17 approached the Corolla, which proceeded to turn left into the path of the Acadia. The front of the Acadia struck the right side of the Corolla within the southbound lane.

The operator of the Corolla, a 57-year-old male from New Hope, was properly restrained and not injured in the collision, as was the front seat passenger, a 59-year-old female from Frankford, Delaware.

Another rear seat passenger, a 78-year-old female from Philadelphia, sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Beebe Medical Center and later transferred to the Christina Hospital.

The operator of the Acadia, a 28-year-old female of Selbyville, Delaware, was not injured in the collision, nor were a front seat passenger and two rear seat children passengers.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
