Organizers of open forum for New Hope merchants hope to boost downtown foot traffic

new hope free press south main street“Let’s bring the ‘hope’ back to New Hope,” beckons the flyer being distributed to downtown business owners promoting a “merchant open forum” being held Wednesday, Oct. 15.

The 7:30 p.m. meeting will be hosted by Havana New Hope, ostensibly to “discuss the issues affecting our business community and share positive ideas to help bring more shoppers to our town,” reads the flyer.

Said co-organizer Linda Sghiatti of Clusters Bucks County Caramel Corn, “The meeting is essentially a meet-and-greet for merchants with the focus on more communication and discussion on what we can do to increase business to our shops.” Sghiatti said she’ll continue visiting businesses not yet reached to help spread the word in the days to come.

Topics for discussion at the meeting will include parking, discounts for local shoppers, store hours, public restrooms, sidewalk repairs, sprucing up storefronts, public benches and other seating, hosting more events, and generating stronger representation at New Hope Chamber of Commerce and Borough Council meetings.

Wednesday’s forum is being coordinated by self-declared Chamber of Commerce non-members, and is open to the entire business community. Merchants with questions are invited to contact Linda at (215) 693-1137, or email Clusterscaramelcorn@gmail.com .
