New Hope police investigated the sound of two rifle shots in the 100 block of South Main Street Thursday night, authorities confirmed today.
When officers arrived on scene they were unable to locate the immediate cause, but they heard another sharp report in the distance while speaking to the complainant. They judged it not to be the sound of a firearm, say police officials.
This reporter and at least one other local resident heard what sounded like a single shot of small arms fire shortly after 10 p.m. Thursday night.
