A pilot safely executed a dead-stick landing Monday afternoon at Doylestown Airport after reporting engine failure while approaching Buckingham Township, according to emergency dispatch information.

First responders were dispatched around 2:39 p.m. to Doylestown Airport, 3800 Old Easton Road, for a reported aircraft emergency involving a Beech C24R Sierra single-engine plane.

According to flight tracking data, the aircraft had departed earlier Monday from the Toms River, New Jersey, area before the pilot reportedly experienced engine trouble while approaching the airport.

Authorities said the pilot reported an engine failure and was forced to glide the aircraft into the airport without engine power, a maneuver commonly referred to in aviation as a โ€œdead-stick landing.โ€

Two people were aboard the aircraft at the time of the emergency.

Officials said both occupants landed safely, exited the plane without assistance and were not injured.

No additional details regarding the cause of the engine failure were immediately available.
