A Monday night fire that appears to be accidental caused damage to the historic Logan Inn and prompted a large response.

Fire crews were dispatched at 7:28 p.m. on Monday to the inn on West Ferry Street for a reported building fire with smoke on the third floor, according to a press release from the New Hope Eagle Fire Company Chief Gary Breuer.

The first units arriving on the scene found the fire alarm sounding and located a heavy smoke condition on the third floor, with flames visible from the roof, fire officials said.

On the third floor, a fire official spotted water coming from under a guest room door.

After forcing the door open, crews found heavy smoke and water flowing from the ceiling area, indicating the fire was above that room, officials said.

A handline was used to access the roof through a hatch to extinguish the main fire.

A second line was stretched from the standpipe connection on the third floor.

The fire had burned into the spaces between the roof joists and between the roof deck and the third-floor ceiling.

The fire company said the blaze necessitated an “extensive amount of overhaul” to ensure the fire was completely out.

The fire “appeared to be accidental” and is under investigation by the Bucks County Fire Marshal’s Office.

Firefighters searched the building to make sure all occupants had evacuated.

No injuries were reported.

Fire officials said hotel staff worked to find accommodations for evacuated guests.

The New Hope Eagle Fire Company was assisted at the scene by the City of Lambertville Fire Department, Midway Fire Company, Delaware Township Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, Upper Makefield Fire Company, Lambertville – New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad, Central Bucks EMS, and the New Hope Borough Police Department. The Point Pleasant and Doylestown fire companies provided cover to the New Hope Eagle Fire Company.

The blaze comes nearly a year after a November 2024 fire caused damage at the Logan Inn.
