The Bucks County Sheriff’s Office has launched a second Mobile Gun Permit Unit and expanded its presence for residents seeking to obtain their License to Carry Firearms.

The expansion includes new host locations throughout Bucks County.

The Mobile Gun Permit Unit program, a first-of-its-kind initiative by Republican Sheriff Fred Harran, launched in 2022. It works to provide LTCF application services directly to local communities, offering a convenient alternative to visiting the sheriff’s physical offices.

“We are committed to upholding the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens in Bucks County while also prioritizing public safety,” said Harran. “The success of our initial Mobile Gun Permit Unit demonstrated a clear need for more accessible application services. By launching a second unit and partnering with additional locations throughout the county, we are making it easier than ever for residents to complete the necessary process to obtain their License to Carry.”

In 2024, the Bucks County Sheriff’s Office processed more than 12,000 gun permits for county residents. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, nearly 10% of all permits were processed by the Mobile Gun Permit Unit, highlighting the demand for expanded outreach services.

Residents using the Mobile Gun Permit Unit must meet the same application requirements and fee structure as those applying at the Sheriff’s fixed locations. Applicants must be Bucks County residents, 21 years of age or older, and meet all state and federal eligibility criteria, including passing a required background check. A valid Pennsylvania Driver’s License or Identification Card and two unrelated references are required. The fee for the LTCF is $20.

The Bucks County Sheriff’s Office encourages residents to visit its official website for the most up-to-date schedule of the Mobile Gun Permit Units, including specific dates, times and locations. The schedule is continuously updated to best serve the needs of Bucks County residents.
