The Lambertville Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its annual Shad Fest this weekend.

The popular event is set to draw large crowds to the city’s downtown and Delaware River waterfront.

The festival is set for Saturday and Sunday and will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. It will be held rain or shine.

The festival has become a staple of spring in the City of Lambertville, offering attendees a rich mix of art, crafts, live music, food, and drink specials, as well as various games and demonstrations.

Tracing its origins in 1981, Shad Fest highlights the local art scene and the seasonal migration of shad up the river.

This year, Union Chill, a local dispensary, is the main sponsor and is hosting a 4/20 celebration on Saturday. Promotions will be held throughout throughout the festival.

To facilitate easy access to the North End stores and the festival itself, Union Chill is also sponsoring an all-day shuttle service for its customers.

As Shad Fest takes place, nearby New Hope Borough expects an influx of visitors.

City officials have announced several road closures and parking restrictions to accommodate the event. The North Union Street Parking Lot will close from 4 p.m. Friday through 8 p.m. Sunday. Additionally, the Wells Fargo Bank Parking Lot and numerous streets, including Main Street from York to Church Street and Union Street from Ferry Street to York Street, will have parking suspended during the festival hours.

Handicapped parking will be available at the Lambertville Free Public Library Parking Lot from Saturday morning to Sunday evening.

The following road closures will be in effect from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday: Union Street from York to Ferry Street, Church Street from Union to Main Street, and several others in the core festival area.

Residents and visitors are advised to plan accordingly to avoid any inconvenience and to enjoy the array of activities and attractions Shad Fest has to offer.
