Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church in New Hope to host inclusion conference

Thompson Memorial Presbyterian Church in New Hope will host “Life Together: You Too Are Brought Near,” a free online and on-site conference on inclusion Sept. 19 and 20.

The conference will include four speakers from Princeton Theological Seminary covering the theological importance and biblical basis for inclusion—particularly in regard to race, disability, and the LGBTQ+ community.

The free conference begins on Saturday, Sept. 19 at 9 a.m. and continues until 11:30 a.m. In the first hour, Kevin Vollrath (MDiv., PhD Candidate) will speak on intersectionality, disability, and “best practices” for communities seeking to create inclusive spaces.

In the second hour, Deborah Jodrey (MDiv, MACEF) and Lindsey Jodrey (Rev. Dr.) will speak on the LGBTQ+ community, gender and sexual identity, language, and the theological importance of gender inclusivity.

On Sunday, Sept. 20, Eric Barreto (Dr.) will speak at 10:30 a.m. on racial and ethnic inclusion, theology, and the radical hospitality demonstrated by Jesus in his ministry.

Participants may join online via Zoom, or participate in person (limited space available). Those attending the outdoor conference in person should bring a mask and chair, say organizers.
