Tim Stover of Harleytville breezed past his fellow racers Sunday at the 12th Annual High Heel Drag Race in New Hope, presented by New Hope Celebrates.

Spectators packed lower West Mechanic Street to view the yearly ritual, which involves men in high heels racing uphill carrying pumpkins.

New Hope’s own Miss Pumpkin served as emcee, as the colorful crowd listened to Carl Max performing the National anthem as Whitney, along with music by Armando Martinez of Raven fame.

The festive, gender-bending atmosphere continued into the evening, with a blue, nearly-full moon rising over West Mechanic Street, and many in the crowd ducking into the bustling bar/restaurants lining the street.
