The excitement of international cycling has returned to our area this weekend. Sponsored by the Thompson Organization, the event includes two professional cycling races, the Cyclosportif 100K recreational ride, children’s races, community activities and dozens of viewing parties along the course. The event is held in conjunction with the Doylestown Arts Festival, also funded by the Thompson Organization.

The weekend kicked off with the inaugural New Hope to Doylestown road race, one of only three American races for men to hold both UCI (International Cycling Union) and NRC (USA Cycling National Racing Calendar) sanctions. The 103-mile race began at 10:30 a.m. in New Hope on Saturday and continued to Carversville for six grueling laps of a 14.6-mile circuit that included two covered bridges and spanned Solebury, Buckingham, Plumstead and Bedminster townships. The peloton then raced to the finish in Doylestown.
