The New Hope-Lambertville area is expected to see several inches of snow out of a system moving through the area Saturday night into Sunday morning.
A Winter Weather Advisory was issued for the region ahead of the storm.
The National Weather Service’s regional office put out a forecast calling for 3 to 4 inches of snow by Sunday morning.
The snow is expected to move in Saturday after 9 p.m.
Forecasters said no ice is currently expected with the storm.
The storm will be followed by a deep freeze.
Cold and windy conditions are forecast for Sunday and Monday, with the coldest period stretching from Sunday night through Tuesday morning.
Daytime wind chills are expected to dip into the low 20s, and overnight wind chills could reach the single digits and teens.
The wind, including gusts, may cause blowing snow on Monday, forecasters warned.
Municipal and PennDOT crews pretreated local roadways Friday and Saturday morning with brine ahead of the storm.
Crews putting brine on Veterans Highway (Route 413) were spotted Friday as drivers slowed behind the trucks.
Officials from PennDOT and the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission warned that drivers should exercise caution on local roads.
“Salt does not resolve all risks, and drivers may encounter icy spots on the roadway,” they said in a statement. “With freezing temperatures, roads that look wet may actually be icy, and extra caution is needed when approaching bridges and highway ramps where ice can form.”
Drivers are strongly encouraged to travel at speeds appropriate for the conditions, increase their following distance, stay in a single lane, and remain patient and alert.
While plow crews are out, drivers are asked to keep at least six car lengths behind plow trucks and never attempt to pass them while they are clearing snow.
State law requires all Pennsylvania drivers to remove snow and accumulated ice from their vehicles, including the hood, roof, and trunk, within 24 hours of the storm’s end. Drivers can be fined $50 for a violation. The penalty can escalate up to $1,500 if dislodged snow or ice causes death or serious injury by striking a pedestrian or another vehicle.
