Severe Storms, Flash Flood Threat Loom Over Smoke-Blanketed Region

Forecasters advise locals to keep an eye on the weather.

With the whole region still recovering from wildfire smoke that has failed to fully disappear, there is now severe weather on the horizon that could impact the area throughout Saturday.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Mount Holly, New Jersey has issued a Flood Watch for the area from Saturday morning through early Sunday.

Forecasters said that locals should be on the lookout for severe weather.

For Bucks County, Saturday has the chance to be full of showers and storms.

The storms all have the chance to produce damaging winds, tornadoes, flash flooding, and large hail.

During the storms, up to an inch of rain an hour is possible. 

For Saturday night, there is a chance for more rain and storms before 1 a.m. which could also bring with it heavy precipitation.

Saturday’s storms have the chance to be severe with high winds and the risk of tornado.

Sunday’s forecast calls for partly sunny skies.

There continues to be an air quality alert in effect mainly due to the thick smoke that has encompassed most of the northeast for the last number of days due to wildfires in Canada.

NWS lays out some tips to help stay safe when the air quality is poor. They say to stay inside, especially children, seniors, and people with respiratory issues. They also mention limiting outdoor time and minimizing use of items that could cause further pollution.
