Bucks County officials announced the opening of multiple cooling centers across the area as temperatures are projected to climb between 95 and 105 degrees over the coming days.
The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning effective from Wednesday at noon through Saturday at 8 p.m.
Forecasters are warning residents of dangerous conditions and that heat index values are expected to reach between 100 and 110 degrees.
Due to the combination of high humidity and soaring temperatures, weather officials anticipate a rise in heat-related illnesses across the area.

“Very warm low temperatures in the mid 70s to low 80s at night will not offer any relief from the heat. This combined with multiple days of near record breaking temperatures will exacerbate the impacts from the heat and humidity,” the National Weather Service said in a statement.
County officials stated that the cooling centers will serve the public through the weekend, with locations operating in the upper, central, and lower sections of the county.

The county typically issues its own Excessive Heat Warning when the National Weather Service projects daytime temperatures to hit 95 degrees by 11 a.m. for at least two consecutive days, or when the heat index is forecast to reach 100 degrees on any single day, officials explained.
Additional cooling spaces, including some local senior centers and municipal facilities not listed under the official county program, may also open during the hot weather.
Officials advised residents to monitor local government websites and social media channels to find nearby alternative locations.
