Democrat Frank DeLuca has been elected New Hope Borough’s next mayor, according to unofficial election results.
DeLuca defeated challenger Mary Brashier, who appeared on the Republican ballot after losing the Democratic primary to DeLuca.

DeLuca, a retired borough police officer and constable, successfully ran on his law enforcement background and knowledge of the borough. He previously served as a New Hope Borough police officer, corporal and interim police chief, and was a member of the Bucks County Major Incident Response Team.
He will succeed Mayor Larry Keller, who did not run for reelection after nearly three decades in office.

New Hope Borough mayors hold responsibilities that include overseeing the police department, participating in council discussions, breaking tie votes of the council, performing marriages, and declaring emergencies.
DeLuca noted his familiarity with the borough’s operations and added that he learned from attending council meetings and his husband’s 12 years of service on the council.
“I know how it works for the department and how things are run with the police department,” DeLuca said.

In other borough election results, Democrats secured available seats.
Democrat Joseph Kassick ran unopposed and won a two-year seat on New Hope Borough Council. Democrats Michele Becci, Eric Burnside, Mark Magerman and Tobie Grama all ran unopposed and won four-year council seats.
For the position of tax collector, Democrat Sulyn Kulick beat incumbent Republican Vickie Lupisella.
