Firefighters brought a blaze at a two-story condominium under control Saturday night.
Crews were called at 9:22 p.m. to Runnemede Road for a reported shed fire near a home. The New Hope Eagle Fire Company, which was already out on a carbon monoxide alarm, was able to respond quickly, according to New Hope Eagle Fire Company Chief Gary Breuer.
New Hope Borough Police Department officers arrived on scene flames and confirmed there was a working structure fire.
Firefighters found the front of the condo was heavily involved in fire, which had also spread into the second-floor windows, and a 20-pound propane cylinder was venting and burning near the front door, Breuer said.
Two ladder trucks provided access to the roof of the building and adjacent structures.
Due to warm weather, two additional engine companies responded to assist, the chief said.
The fire was brought under control, but extensive overhaul was required.
One firefighter was transported to Doylestown Hospital for evaluation of a medical condition.
PECO’s emergency crew responded to secure utilities to the involved condos.
The cause and origin of the fire are under investigation by the Bucks County Fire Marshal’s Office and New Hope police.
In addition to the New Hope Eagle Fire Company, the City of Lambertville Fire Department, Doylestown Fire Company, Delaware Township Fire Company, Lingohocken Fire Company, Midway Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, and Upper Makefield Fire Company responded.
The Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad and Central Bucks EMS staffed a rehabilitation operation to rehydrate and monitor firefighters.
