The body of a man who went missing in the Delaware River Tuesday evening was located Wednesday night.

Bucks County Coroner Patti Campi said the 23-year-old man’s body was found in the river in Lower Makefield Township and was removed by authorities.

The recovery came after a large search Tuesday evening and Wednesday along the river in Hunterdon, Bucks, and Mercer counties.

The coroner’s office is still investigating the death.

In a Facebook post, the West Amwell Fire Company stated that crews were called to Firemen’s Island in West Amwell Township, just south of the City of Lambertville, at 6:06 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a missing person. The call was upgraded to a water search.

The search involved multiple boats in the water and a New Jersey State Police helicopter assisting.
