The lights were back on for most PECO customers in the area after thousand lost power due to Thursday’s storms.
As of late Saturday afternoon, PECO reported just over 230 customers remained without power, a decrease from the several thousand outages reported Thursday night. The majority of outages were in Solebury Township.
Utility crews worked continuously through Friday night and early Saturday to restore service.
In addition to power, Verizon and Comcast services were slowly returning to the area.
Residents continued the cleanup to clear downed branches and limbs across the area.
The National Weather Service’s regional office in Mount Holly, New Jersey, attributed the storm damage primarily to straight-line winds that were estimated to be between 60 and 70 mph.
According to PECO, the emergency operations teams were activated immediately following the storms. More than 1,400 contractors and crews from other utilities have been assisting local utility workers, with an additional 250 personnel arriving Friday afternoon to aid in restoration efforts.
