The Solebury Township Police Department has deployed a new all-electric patrol vehicle and become one of the first law enforcement agencies in Bucks County to integrate an EV into its fleet.
The fully-equipped and marked Chevrolet Blazer is now on active duty.
The department stated the EV is designed to meet the demands of police work while reducing its carbon footprint.
Police said the new vehicle offers a quieter and more environmentally friendly alternative to traditional gasoline-powered cruisers.
“This is an exciting milestone for our department and our community,” Chief of Police Kelley Warner said. “By integrating electric vehicles into our fleet, we’re not only enhancing our operational capabilities but also taking meaningful action to reduce our environmental impact.”
The department called the new vehicle “a bold step toward sustainability and the modernization of community policing.”
The transition to electric vehicles aligns with Solebury Township’s broader effort to embrace green technologies and reduce municipal emissions.
The department plans to monitor the EV’s performance and cost-effectiveness, with potential for future expansion of the electric fleet.
In recent years, the Solebury Township Police Department has added hybrid patrol vehicles to its fleet to reduce fuel consumption.
Other Bucks County police departments have incorporated hybrid vehicles and explored electric patrol vehicles. The Warrington Township Police Department recently added a Ford Mach-E patrol vehicle.
