Pennsylvania State Police will conduct an enforcement crackdown over the Memorial Day weekend.
Troopers said they will be targeting aggressive, distracted and impaired drivers.
The enforcement period begins at 12:01 a.m. Friday and ends at 11:59 p.m. Monday.
Troopers will focus on aggressive driving behaviors such as speeding and seat belt violations as part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement Education Program (PADEEP), state police said.
Distracted driving will also be a focus, along with enforcement of laws against texting while driving, handheld mobile phone use and other prohibitions on text-based communications. Careless and reckless driving violations will also be monitored, state police said.
Additionally, the Selective Traffic Enforcement Against Drunk Drivers (STEADD) initiative and Drug Recognition Expert (DRE) troopers will concentrate on apprehending motorists driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
During the 2024 Memorial Day enforcement period, Troop M, which covers Bucks, Lehigh, and Northampton counties, investigated 45 crashes and made 29 arrests for DUI.
