Popular local destination Peddler’s Village will celebrate its 44th annual Strawberry Festival this weekend, with festivities running Saturday, May 3, and Sunday, May 4, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The weekend will feature a variety of strawberry-themed food and beverages, including fresh-baked pies and desserts, along with live music, entertainment, food trucks, and activities.

New to the festival this year is the Great Strawberry Strut, taking place on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Guests who come dressed in strawberry-themed outfits or costumes can check in at the kiosk on the Village Green for a chance to win prizes. All participants will also be entered into a giveaway to win a $100 Peddler’s Village gift card.

A pie-eating contest for both adults and children is scheduled for both Saturday and Sunday, beginning at 2:30 p.m. Registration for the contest starts at 11 a.m.

Organizers said the festival will also include games, a bounce house, axe throwing, kids’ crafts, and face painting. Live music will be performed by local musicians, with special entertainment by Martin and Kelly on Sunday.

Outdoor stands, including the Water Wheel Food Tent and food trucks, will offer a variety of strawberry-themed baked goods such as strawberry chocolate chip cannolis, strawberry shortcake donuts, and strawberry scones, as well as fresh strawberries. Guests can also find strawberry-themed menu specials at the Village’s indoor restaurants and eateries. House-baked strawberry streusel pies can be pre-ordered online and will also be available for purchase during the festival weekend while supplies last.

Admission to the festival is free, but food, drinks, and some activities are pay-as-you-go.

Peddler’s Village shops will remain open until 8 p.m. on Saturday.

A complete festival schedule can be found on PeddlersVillage.com.

Following the festival weekend, Peddler’s Village restaurants will continue to feature strawberry-themed food and beverages throughout May.

Other upcoming springtime events at Peddler’s Village include the second annual Best of the Nest: Birdhouse Competition and Display, which takes place through June 8, a Mother’s Day buffet on May 11, a murder mystery dinner, a comedy night, and Food Truck Thursday.
