A galaxy far, far away descends upon New Hope Borough this week.

The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce is set to host its second annual New Hope Star Wars Day on Saturday to celebrate the global phenomenon of May The Fourth.

From noon to 4 p.m., the force will be strong on Main Street as iconic Star Wars characters roam the area, courtesy of Garrison Carida. The group is an all-volunteer organization that part of the worldwide 501st Legion of Star Wars costuming fans who are dedicated to spreading joy — one blaster-wielding “bad guy doing good” at a time.

Look for familiar faces from Star Wars visiting more than a dozen beloved New Hope establishments, including Ferry Market, Fran’s Pub, Plant Haus, Logan Inn, Havana’s, and many others.

Star Wars-themed cocktails that are sure to transport your taste buds. The sales and specials won’t hurt either.

GreenHouse New Hope will offer a “Tatooine Sunrise,” while Havana will be serving a “YodaRita.” Nozomu Sushi is rolling out specialty “Luke Skywalker” and “Yoda” sushi rolls.

For those seeking a creative outlet, Plant Haus hosts a “Galaxy Paint & Pot” event, perfect for crafting a planter fit for a Sarlacc or a simple houseplant.

Starting at 5 p.m., the Playhouse Deck Restaurant and Bar will test your knowledge with “Cantina Quizzo” and offer themed drinks like “Blue Milk” and “Bombad Brew” (including a non-alcoholic “Baby Yoda Soda”).

Olde Stone Steakhouse will feature a “Rebellion Rum Runner,” a bold fruit punch with a rallying cry kick.

The New Hope Visitors Center will host local Girl Scouts for a Star Wars-inspired art and craft session with face painting for younglings.

“This is our second year hosting Star Wars Day in New Hope, and it’s such a cool and exciting event that brings our community together in a fun, unique way,” said Michael Sklar, president of the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce. “Seeing fans of all ages connect with these iconic characters and enjoy the creativity of our local businesses makes this day truly special.”

Garrison Carida is a key player in bringing the event to life.

“We are the central and eastern Garrison of Pennsylvania,” said Dave Kreyling, commanding officer for the group. “Garrison Carida is part of the 501st Legion, which is a worldwide costume organization. We are the Bad Guys Doing Good.”

Beyond the imperial might of their costumes, Garrison Carida encourages donations to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, supporting their mission to grant wishes for children with critical illnesses.
