Stranded motorist on West Mechanic Street

An early evening thunderstorm caused the Ingham Creek to overflow its banks on Friday, closing two roads and flooding backyards along West Mechanic and West Ferry streets in New Hope.

New Hope Eagle Fire Company was on scene at South Sugan Road at 6:30 p.m. to help a motorist whose electric-powered car was stranded on West Mechanic Street, and redirected local traffic away from the area.

Farther east, the muddy, fast-moving waters of the creek resembled chocolate milk as they churned beneath the Stockton Avenue Bridge towards the Bucks County Playhouse and the Delaware River beyond.
