The heat is on at Lambertville – New Hope Winter Festival Chili Cook-Off

chiles On Jan. 26 from 1-4 p.m. Triumph Brewing Company of New Hope will present the 18th Annual Winter Festival Chili Cook-Off. The hot competition features some of the tastiest, tangiest and most original chili created by the finest local restaurants and accompanied by local beers.

Along with the Winterfest Parade and Pancake Breakfast, the chili cook-off is one of the week’s most popular events. Attendees and can vote for their favorite chili in the People’s Choice Award competition which, along with the chili, will be lively, say sponsors.

Contestants include Bitter Bob’s, Bowman’s Tavern, Bux Catering (Jamie Hollander), Chef Elly’s West End Ice Cream, Door-to-Door Organics Hearth, Havana, Lambertville Station, Mothers, Pudge Cakes, The Landing, and Triumph Brewing of New Hope.

Chili, or specifically chili con carne, contains chile peppers, meat, tomatoes (semi-controversial) and beans (controversial). Legend has it that LBJ used local lean venison in his chili after his heart attack.

Ticket Prices are $50 for Adults and $45 Under 21 or No Alcohol.

This year’s cook-off will be held at the New Hope Eagle Fire House, 46 N. Sugan Road. Tickets are $50 for adults and $45 under 21 or no alcohol.
