After 15 years in operation, a New Hope Borough vegan restaurant will be closing its doors.
Sprig & Vine will close its doors on Sunday, Oct. 19, according to an announcement from chef and owner Ross Olchvary.
The restaurant in Union Square is closing because it is “no longer financially viable to continue,” Olchvary wrote in a message to customers posted on the restaurant’s Instagram account.
“We reached that point a while ago but pushed on because we passionately believed in our vision,” Olchvary wrote. “Your love kept us here but we could only go so far before the financial toll forced the painful decision to say goodbye.”
Sprig & Vine, which opened in March 2010, has “proudly served nearly half a million vegan meals,” according to Olchvary.
The business started a GoFundMe campaign to help cover closing costs, bills, debt, and final payroll for staff. The fundraiser is seeking to raise $65,000 and had raised $3,700 as of Thursday morning.
Olchvary noted that the restaurant may have “limited offerings or pop-ups depending on our staffing” after the closing date.
The owner encouraged guests to use any existing gift cards by Oct. 19.
The space is “technically for sale” and available for rent, according to the Instagram post.
Olchvary, who can be followed on Instagram at @chef.ross.boss for updates on pop-ups and other projects, also encouraged businesses that are hiring to comment on the post to help the restaurant’s staff find new jobs.
