Solebury School GirlForward Club to host benefit fashion show

fashion showMany women love the fun and glamor of a fashion show, and if that show will benefit young women in need around the world, well, that makes it all the more special.  On Sunday, Sept. 22, Solebury School’s GirlForward Club will be hosting Fashion Forward, a fashion show featuring clothing from local businesses including Blue Sky Boutique, New Hope Apparel, and Dominique Daniela in New Hope. The clothing will be modeled by Solebury School students and faculty.

The event will take place at Solebury School, located on Phillips Mill Road in Solebury, PA. Starting at 1 p.m., Mocktails will be served in the School Crib on campus, then guests will be invited into the school’s Performing Arts Center at 2 p.m. for the Fashion Show. Tickets are $10 in advance, $15 at the door. Prizes have been donated by local New Hope and Lambertville businesses, including Bath Junkie, Farley’s Bookshop, Aladdin, India Fashions, Marsha Brown, and Sojourner. The event is open to the public. For more information, contact girlforward@gmail.com.

“We decided to host a fashion show fundraiser because it is something fun and different that we could really get the community involved in,” said Alex Leone of Ewing NJ, a Solebury School senior and one of the event organizers. “This year we really want to expand the reach of GirlForward so that the New Hope community is more aware of what we’re all about, raising funds for girls around the world who don’t have access to the tools and opportunities that we have as American girls.”

All of the money raised will go to Girl Up, the grassroots organization of the United Nations Foundation “uniting girls to change the world.” Solebury School’s GirlForward is one of hundreds of clubs around the country that are raising money for and awareness about girls around the world. Girl Up sends the money to different United Nations programs which benefit girls in Malawi, Liberia, Guatemala, and Ethiopia.
