Sound of Urchin is an alternative rock band that calls both New York and New Hope its home, and they are returning to John and Peters on Friday, March 20 in one of the more worthwhile acts to come through this month.

First, there’s Chris “Tomato” Harfenist, who performs lead vocal and drums, and recently said in an email, “We got our start playing in New Hope in 1998 at John & Peter’s.”

Continued Harfenist, “J&P’s has been our home base through the years. We have a new album out, our fourth, and our first to be released on vinyl.”

Band members also include Reverend B-ILL (Bill Fowler) – lead guitar, main backup vocal; Conor Kinsman – bass; Karina Rykman – guitar, keyboards, vocals; and Josh Musto – guitar, vocals.

Dean Ween has been involved with the band, producing their first major label release The Orange E.P. Harfenist and B-ILL play in Dean Ween and Guy Heller’s Moistboyz band. Sound of Urchin are also known for their work with with Tenacious D.

All in all, Sound of Urchin is high-quality, wide-ranging, stadium/alt madness that has New Hope and John and Peter’s written all over it, and that is not to be missed. You heard it here.
