Founded by Mick Moloney in 1978, The Green Fields of America was the first group on either side of the Atlantic to bring together Irish vocal, instrumental and dance traditions on the concert and festival stage. The group continues to feature some of the most celebrated names in Irish American music and dance in including National Heritage Award Recipients: Mick Moloney on Banjo, Vocals and Octave Mandolin, and Billy McComiskey on Button Accordion.  Riverdance and Sharon Shannon Band alum Athena Tergis soars on fiddle while World Irish Step Dance Champion Niall O’Leary lays down the beat. Acclaimed concertina player and singer Brenda Castles adds classic, thoughtful melodies and songs. Brendan Dolan on piano and flute, embodies the heart-and-soul of New York/Sligo style Trad and Liz Hanley devastates audiences with songs that echo within.

Together, The Green Fields of America celebrate Irish music and dance in America, telling stories of the flood of Irish who set out for a new life in the West and how, while meeting new immigrants from throughout the world, they championed the ancient tradition back in Ireland. This extraordinary group of artists delights audiences across the globe by transporting them through snapshots in history that inspire and move us all.
