The legendary Brand X is taking the stage at Havana New Hope on Jan. 5, and it may be a show you don’t want to miss.

The band helped created the jazz fusion sub-genre in the late ’70s, disappeared through much of the ’80s, produced and toured again in the 1990s while frequently changing band members, until finally falling apart again in 1999. They got back together earlier this year, and are stopping by Havana as part of their reunion tour.

The sound? Think Weather Report, Chick Corea, Mahavishnu Orchestra. Complex, ethnic-influenced, impromptu constructions featuring powerful rock riffs and lighthearted melody lines.

Brand X hits the stage at Havana, 105 S. Main St., at 8:30 p.m. on Jan. 5; doors open at 6 p.m. Limited tables, bar stools, and loft chairs available. Tickets are $39; must be 21.
