Two Pedestrians Struck By Vehicle In Lambertville

Two pedestrians were injured Wednesday after being struck by a pickup truck towing a trailer.

Officers with the City of Lambertville Police Department were dispatched at approximately 6:04 p.m. to the intersection of North Main Street (Route 29) and Bridge Street (Route 179) for reports of a crash involving a vehicle and pedestrians.

Upon pulling up, patrol officers found a 66-year-old man and a 64-year-old woman lying on the ground. Both victims were conscious and alert at the scene, police said.

The driver of the Ram pickup truck, a city resident, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers, police told the New Hope Free Press.

Due to the extent of her injuries, the woman was transported to a landing zone at Ely Field, where she was met by a medical transport helicopter. She was flown to a trauma center with non-life-threatening injuries.

The man was taken by ambulance to the same hospital for treatment of minor injuries, police said.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation by police.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad, the City of Lambertville Fire Department, Hunterdon Medical Center Paramedics, the New Jersey State Police Northstar helicopter, and the West Amwell Township Police Department.
