A black bear was spotted in a Solebury Township neighborhood Friday morning and led to authorities reminding the community how to safely handle wildlife encounters.
Residents living near the intersection of Taylor Lane and Aquetong Road reported seeing the black bear in their backyard.
According to police, the bear did not linger on the property and safely moved along into an adjacent open field without any incident.
After the report, the Solebury Township Police Department encouraged residents to contact law enforcement if they notice a bear in their vicinity.
While black bears are typically wary of people and rarely attack, authorities issued several safety guidelines to promote peaceful coexistence with local wildlife.
If an encounter occurs, officials advise residents to remain calm, avoid direct eye contact, and make loud noises. Under no circumstances should individuals run from, approach, or attempt to feed a bear, police said.
