As the New Hope Eagle Fire Company was out on the Delaware River Tuesday evening conducting training, a call came in for a “body in the water,” officials said.

Crews from the fire company, the New Hope Borough Police Department, City of Lambertville Fire Company, West Amwell Fire Company, and the Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad were dispatched.

Firefighters arrived to the area near the wing dam in less than a minute.

Officials said crews found that the caller reported a hazard buoy anchored above the dam to mark the location of a submerged log.

Mutual aid companies were recalled and New Hope Eagle Fire Company members continued their training on the river.
