The area is in for a frigid shift in weather as a pair of storm systems threatens light snowfall followed by a period of dangerously cold temperatures.
Forecasters said two opportunities for snow are predicted this week, but neither is expected to result in significant accumulations.
According to the National Weather Service’s regional office, the region is bracing for a sustained stretch of below-normal temperatures beginning this weekend and lasting through the middle of next week.
A blustery Friday will give way to light snow early Saturday morning. Most areas are expected to see those flakes transition to rain.
An offshore system is forecasted to move into the region Sunday and bring another chance of some snow.
Meteorologists said the “threat for a significant snowfall remains low at this time.”
Bucks County is expected to see an inch or less of total accumulation from the weekend storms.
Ahead of the winter weather, PennDOT crews were active across Bucks County on Friday spraying brine to local roadways to prevent icing.
With the cold air moving in Sunday, High temperatures are projected to hover at or below freezing, while overnight lows will plummet into the single digits and teens.
Forecasters warned that wind chill factors will make conditions feel even harsher, with “feels-like” temperatures expected to drop into the single digits or below zero.
