A forecasted winter storm underdelivered on snow totals Saturday morning but left the region dealing with a mixture of snow, sleet, and freezing rain that slicked up roadways.
While initial forecasts called for several inches of snow, the storm transitioned into a wintry mix, which left a thin glaze of ice over streets, sidewalks, and yards throughout the area.
Major thoroughfares remained partly covered with snow and ice Saturday morning, according to views from PennDOT traffic cameras in lower and central Bucks County.
Local side roads were reported to be in worse condition, but salt trucks were spotted dealing with them.
The icy conditions led to a busy night for first responders.
Police and fire crews responded to a wave of crashes Friday evening.
Maintenance crews worked through the night to combat the freeze.
While salt trucks were deployed across the region, the effectiveness of the salt varied against the stubborn coating of ice.
As of Saturday morning, PECO reported only a few isolated power outages across the county.
