A quick response from emergency crews contained a Thursday morning fire to the laundry room of a West Bridge Street home in New Hope Borough.
Around 11 a.m., firefighters were called to the residence for a reported laundry room fire.
New Hope Borough police officers were the first to arrive and immediately confirmed a working fire, the fire company said in a statement.
Officers used fire extinguishers through the exterior doorway, which helped slow the fire until fire crews arrived, officials said.
New Hope Eagle Fire Company members arrived moments later and stretched a handline to the back of the house to put the rest of the flames out., officials said.
Crews from the City of Lambertville Fire District assisted on the scene by laying a supply line from the nearest hydrant.
Following the knockdown, crews performed overhaul and salvage work at the home.
Officials reported no injuries from the fire.
The Lambertville-New Hope Ambulance and Rescue Squad and Central Bucks Emergency Medical Services stood by at the scene as a precaution.
The fire’s damage was limited to the laundry room area, a result of “a quick response and cooperation between the police, EMS and fire companies,” according to the New Hope Eagle Fire Company.
Fire officials also issued a caution regarding public safety during fire operations, noting that “car after car drove over the supply hose in the street” before the hose could be removed.
Firefighters stressed that driving over fire hoses, especially large-diameter supply lines, can damage the equipment.
“The lives of firefighters and the property that we are trying to protect can both be endangered if a damaged supply line bursts,” the fire company stated.
