Hunterdon County has officially launched a $2.3 million upgraded computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and records management system.

County Commissioner Jeff Kuhl joined Public Safety Department staff last Wednesday at the Hunterdon County Communications Center to mark the system’s official rollout.

Kuhl called the launch “a significant milestone in our continued investment in public safety.”

“The new CAD system ensures that our emergency responders have faster access to critical information, better coordination across agencies, and stronger security for our residents,” Kuhl added.

The new system, which is officially live, follows more than a year of planning and development led by Public Safety Director and Office of Emergency Management Coordinator Brayden Fahey and his team.

Developed in partnership with Computer Square Inc., the system is noted as one of the few of its kind at the county level in New Jersey.

The platform modernizes dispatch and recordkeeping for police, fire, and EMS operations to create a unified, countywide emergency response system.

Officials said the new system has integrated, real-time data sharing among law enforcement, ambulance, and fire agencies. It provides streamlined records management to reduce administrative workload, and improved dispatch accuracy and response time.

The county’s a shared services model for 9-1-1 is designed to reduce costs for local departments.

“Hunterdon County is proud to continue our longstanding status as the premiere countywide dispatch center in New Jersey by transforming and enhancing a fully integrated CAD system of this scale at the county level,” Fahey stated.

The system’s design incorporated input from responders to ensure it meets real-world operational needs.

Fahey added that the effort “puts us at the forefront of public safety innovation, and it reflects our commitment to providing first responders with the tools they need to protect our communities effectively and efficiently.”
