Washington Crossing Historic Park is set to host a series of events this Memorial Day weekend.
On Saturday, the Friends of Washington Crossing Park and the historic Newtown Theatre will present a free outdoor jazz concert on the banks of the Delaware River near the park’s Visitor Center in Upper Makefield Township.
The event will run from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. and feature jazz artist Calli Graver. Graver, known for her genre-bending sound influenced by jazz, classical, and pop, will perform selections from her critically acclaimed album “The Sun’s In My Eyes,” which was produced by Ben O’Neil.
Attendees are encouraged to bring picnic dinners, chairs, and blankets.
Rita’s Italian Ice will be available onsite.
Alcohol is prohibited in the state park, and all pets must be leashed and under control.
In case of rain, the concert will be rescheduled to Monday, May 27, at the same time.
On Sunday, Washington Crossing Historic Park will hold its annual Memorial Day ceremony at 1 p.m.
The event will take place at The Revolutionary War Soldiers Gravesite, located behind the Thompson Neely House at 1638 River Road in Solebury Township.
The ceremony will include a colonial color guard, fife and drum music, Revolutionary War reenactors, and veterans.
Retired U.S. Army Major General Wesley E. Craig Jr. will deliver the keynote address. Craig’s distinguished military career includes the Army Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, and Meritorious Service Medal, among other honors.
American flags will be placed on the graves of soldiers who died during the Continental Army’s December 1776 encampment in Bucks County.
