The first fireworks show of the year is set to dazzle spectators Friday, May 17.

The show will kick off at 8:40 p.m. along the Delaware River and offer a display visible from both the New Hope Borough and City of Lambertville waterfronts.

The Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce and New Hope Celebrates are hosting the fireworks.

Visitors can use the parking lots at New Hope-Solebury High School and Union Square. Some locations may require a small fee, organizers said.

For the safety of all attendees, Stockton Avenue between Bridge and Ferry streets will be closed to vehicular traffic beginning at 2 p.m. to allow for pedestrian traffic only.

In addition to the fireworks, the evening will feature artists and vendors. Many of the area businesses will be open for locals and visitors.

This year, the fireworks will continue from June through September and take place on the first Friday of each month.

Earlier this spring, the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce received approval for the fireworks from the New Hope Borough Council.

“This inclusive event gives us another year to show off amazing artists, vendors, businesses, restaurants, and bring visitors of all backgrounds to explore and enjoy our incredible town,” said Michael Sklar, the Greater New Hope Chamber of Commerce president.

The fireworks, a longstanding tradition, were paused for several years before making a popular return last year.
