Frank Ur was named the interim fire official for the City of Lambertville at January’s city council meeting.

The city council voted unanimously to appoint him as interim fire official.

Mayor Andrew J. Nowick said he was pleased to have Ur joining the city government.

Ur will serve in this role until his interim contract is up on April 30.

The appointment comes after the previous fire official resigned last November.

A longtime firefighter, he’s served in the City of Lambertville for six years.

In his new role, he will work 16 hours per week while making $27.50 an hour, according to the city council meeting agenda.

Ur’s responsibilities will include overseeing state-mandated fire safety programs and inspections of businesses and residences, the mayor said.

The city’s fire official is separate from the Lambertville Fire Department, which is headed by Chief Mike Barlow. The Lambertville Fire Department is composed of three full-time firefighters and 61 per diem firefighters.
