Police Log: Large Fraud Cause Turned Over To Feds, Robbery Arrest & More

September 17

DUI

At approximately 1:27 a.m., an officer performed a traffic stop on a vehicle he observed traveling on West Bridge Street. The driver, a 29-year-old female from Bordentown, New jersey, was found to be driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs to a degree which rendered her incapable of safe driving. The subject was arrested and charged with Driving Under the Influence.

Harassment

At approximately 10:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to an establishment on South Main Street for a reported disorderly subject. The investigation led to the arrest of a 33-year-old female from Perkasie, who was charged with Harassment, Criminal Mischief, Disorderly Conduct, and Public Drunkenness.

September 28

DUI

At approximately 2:30 a.m., officers were dispatched to a traffic crash on South Main Street. The investigation led to the arrest of a 33-year-old Princeton, New Jersey man for Driving Under the Influence.

October 10

Fraud

A New Hope Borough resident reported being a victim of an internet scam. The subject received a fraudulent message advising their Microsoft account was hacked. They then received fraudulent messages from what they thought was their bank, stating their money was being used to purchase child pornography. Over several months, the scammers instructed the subject not to tell anyone or else they could be charged with a crime and they convinced the subject to wire them large transactions to Hong Kong. The investigation was turned over to the FBI.

October 14

Possession Of A Controlled Substance

At approximately 1:19 a.m., an officer observed a male subject urinating in a parking lot. The subject was identified as a juvenile from New Jersey. The investigation resulted in the arrest of the subject. He was charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance/Paraphernalia, Underage Drinking, Disorderly Conduct, and Possession of a Fake ID. The subject was released to a parent.

Underage Drinking

At 2:09 a.m., officers investigated a report of an intoxicated subject, punching things and screaming on South Main Street. The subject was located and identified as a juvenile from New Jersey. The subject was charged with Underage Drinking and Carrying a False Identification Card and was released to a parent.

November 5

DUI

At approximately 4:41 p.m., officers responded to South Sugan Road in the area of George Kauffman Way for a report of a one-vehicle crash. A witness stated several mailboxes were struck and the driver was attempting to leave the area. When officers arrived, the vehicle had already fled the scene. Solebury Township police located the striking vehicle in Solebury Township and the driver was identified as a 57-year-old woman from New Hope Borough. Based on the investigation, she was arrested & charged with DUI, Reckless Driving, and Accidents to Unattended Property.   

November 12

Robbery

At approximately 2:42 p.m., officers were dispatched to a disturbance call in the area of West Mechanic and South Main streets. The victim reported a male subject forcibly took her cell from her and threw it to the ground, causing it to break. Based on the investigation, a 26-year-old male from Newark, New Jersey, was charged with Robbery, Theft, Harassment, and Disorderly Conduct.
