Bucks Countians can dispose of their unused, unneeded, or expired prescription medications at several spots across the area this weekend.

Bucks County’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day will take place Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at dozens of locations.

The countywide event will collect prescription medications, vaping products, over-the-counter, and pet medications for safe disposal.

Below are the drop-off locations in the New Hope area:

CVS Pharmacy, 302 West Bridge Street, New Hope
Solebury Township Police Department, 3092 Sugan Road, Solebury

In addition to the medication collections, several sites will be collecting sharps used to inject medications. Several sites will also distribute overdose-reversal medication naloxone while supplies last.

The New Hope Borough collection sites are also all sharps collection locations.

Bucks County Commissioner Chairperson Bob Harvie said the take back day will have 48 sites open in Bucks County on Saturday.

“It doesn’t have to be prescription. It can be over the counter, too,” he said of the collection.

“This is really so important. I’ve heard numerous times that the new drug dealer in your town is your medicine cabinet in your home. You have disposed of unused medications,” Bucks County Commissioner Gene DiGirolamo said.

The Bucks County Drug and Alcohol Commission, the district attorney’s office, police departments, and local organizations put on the event.

Bucks County has collected 192,000 pounds of unused medications since it began in 2010.
