Passing of Virginia K. Hazzard of Lambertville

Virginia K. Hazzard of Lambertville, died on Sunday, Dec. 6, at the Hunterdon Care Center in Raritan Township, N.J. She was 109 years old.

Born in Bayonne, N.J., Virginia lived most of her life in Jersey City before coming to Lambertville in 1993.

She worked as an office manager and bookkeeper for much of her career and, over the years, was employed by Texaco at their corporate offices in New York City’s Chrysler Building, AT&T in Piscataway, First National Bank in Jersey City and Theys Brothers in Jersey City.

After relocating to Lambertville, Virginia worked with her sons in their New Hope shops, Topeo and Ferry Hill. She took pride in assisting her children in their businesses and cherished the time she spent with them both at work and at home.

Virginia was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She was family centered and was supportive of her sons in all they did. Her positive attitude and resilient strength endeared her to family and friends alike. She will be missed by many.

Virginia was the wife of the late Thomas L. Hazzard, the mother of the late Ronald T. Hazzard and the daughter of the late Joseph and Minnie Brede Fredericks. She is survived by her son Walter T. Hazzard and his spouse Andre Morin of Buckingham Township; her daughter-in-law Heinke Hazzard of Newport Beach, Calif.; her grandson and his wife Cristopher T. and April Hazzard of Newport Beach; her great-grandson Hudson Hazzard of Newport Beach, and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be private.
