Apple season in full swing at Solebury Orchards

It’s hard to believe another year has passed and apple season is upon us once again!

The folks at Solebury Orchards say the Galas are ripe and delicious this week, and everyone is invited to come and pick their own starting Thursday!

“It looks to be another good year for the apple crop, and we are anticipating plenty of apples available for picking right through the fall season,” said grower Brian Smith.

Picking continues through the first weekend in November. The next apple variety coming on line will be Honeycrisp through mid-September, joined later by Pink Lady, Fuji, Stayman-Winesap, Empire, and Keepsake, among others.

In the orchard store right now are Gala and Sansa apples, cider slushies and heavenly cider donuts. Fresh press apple cider will be available starting Sept. 5.

Tractors and wagons take visitors out to the trees for picking on Saturdays and Sundays.

Located at 3325 Creamery Road, Solebury Orchards is open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday through Sunday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Labor Day.
