Delaware River Mill Society and Stockton Fire Company join forces

The Delaware River Mill Society (DRMS) and Stockton Fire Company are discussing ways to work together, pool resources and create events for the greater Stockton community, the groups recently announced.

DRMS manages the Prallsville Mill Complex, promoting its use for cultural, educational, recreational and community activities.

The DRMS Board decided that cooperating with the Stockton Fire Company would be a boon to both organizations, the group said. In the early planning stages are ways to combine holiday events and facilitating the construction of a dry hydrant near the mill.

Newly-appointed DRMS board member Rick McDaniel attended a July meeting of the Stockton Fire Company Monthly and fulfilled a pledge of $1,000 to the group.

”As a long-standing member of our community, I’m thrilled to be a liaison between the organizations,” said McDaniel, who also volunteers with Stockton Fire Company.

“Both organizations have a strong commitment to the Stockton community and surrounding area,” observed Jeff Barnes, DRMS Board president. “Working together on specific projects and events will benefit our community.”

The Stockton Fire Company was formed in 1908 and is 100% volunteer.
