Passing of Bruce E. Ledger of New Hope

Bruce E. Ledger, 67, passed away on Saturday June 29, under Samaritan Hospice care at Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mt. Holly, N.J.

A longtime resident of Stockton, N.J .and New Hope, Bruce was known for his generosity and creative spirit. For a number of years, he worked as a court stenographer in the Hunterdon County court system. Bruce was the bar manager at the Cartwheel in New Hope for many years, as well as a waiter at Phillips Mill Inn. Using his many creative talents, he became a personal assistant until he moved back to the area. Recently Bruce served as a host at many area restaurants including the Logan Inn, Hamilton Grill, DeAnna’s, and the Raven.

Bruce was widely known by his stage name “Geritol Kane,” among other personas, and his many memorable performances in the area. He was an icon of New Hope and was a part of the Pride Parade for many years.

Son of the late Albert F. Ledger and Virginia Squarcia Ledger and uncle of the late Tina Ledger, he is survived by two brothers Dennis Ledger and his wife Carol Craigh Ledger and his wife Pam, sister Ginny Bowling and her husband John, his nieces and nephews, Denise Voorhees, Brett Ledger, Jenny Budrewicz, Jill Clark, Sean, Scott and Victoria Bowling, several great nieces and nephews, cousins, and his loving dog Otto.

A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday July 8 at 10:30 a.m. at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church, 44 Bridge St., in Lambertville. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. There will be no calling hours.
