Solebury police say truck fled after crashing into motorcycle Wednesday

Area of Wednesday’s crash

Solebury police are searching for the driver of a pickup truck that crashed into a motorcycle Wednesday, then fled the scene.

The collision occurred at 12:40 p.m. on the spur connecting Route 202 (Lower York Road) with Route 32 (River road) near the Rabbit Run Creek traffic light and adjacent to the New Hope-Solebury varsity baseball field.

Police say a white pickup truck pulling an open landscaping trailer was located on the northbound shoulder of the spur when it suddenly veered left back onto the roadway as if to make a U-turn, cutting off a northbound motorcycle attempting to pass it.

Fortunately, the driver escaped the crash uninjured, although his bike was damaged.

The driver of the pickup truck failed to stop and render aid or identify himself, and fled the scene by turning onto Hardy Bush Way toward West Bridge Street. The driver is described as a Hispanic male approximately 30-40 years of age, and police say the pickup truck should show contact damage to the lower portion of the driver’s side door area.

Anyone with information on the identity of the pickup truck driver is asked to contact the Solebury Police Department at (215) 348-7400 or (215) 297-8201.
